Kate Truscott

Kate has worked with young people since her late teens when she supported youngsters with disabilities and difficult tweens during summer Playscapes. While she studied for her degree at Bristol University she supported young adults with additional needs with their literacy, numeracy and life skills.

Kate then graduated as a teacher and quickly became Head of the PSHE and RE Departments at an Outstanding Secondary school. She developed innovative schemes of work to help young people manage their lifestyles including sexual relationships, alcohol and drugs as well as mental health. As part of a flagship team she trained other local schools and people throughout the LEA in Personal Social and Health education.

For the last 10 years Kate has been a passionate Pastoral leader whose students and parents have commented that “we wouldn’t have got through it without your support.” During this time Kate has also supported parents of teens in her local community with careers advice and friendship issues.

With three children of her own, one who has additional needs, Kate has plenty of chance to put her own advice into practice.
